I became fascinated with mental health in my first undergraduate psychology course. I had joined the military around that same time, and shortly after, I experienced a number of losses. But I was extremely fortunate: I had the opportunity to heal from those losses to a degree I didn't see — or feel — was common. I wanted others to experience that same healing.

As I continued my education, I learned what trauma does when it goes unaddressed — to the brain, to our relationships, to our day-to-day lives, and to our future. I knew this was what I wanted my career to address, and I later pursued my doctorate specifically to research trauma recovery. As my career has progressed, that research and the work itself have led me to one conviction I hold above the rest:

Trauma is not only treatable — healing and meaningful recovery are both possible. Healing can't be forced: the counselor can facilitate and educate, but meaningful change ultimately requires the client's participation.

That's why this practice looks the way it does. Clients who come here tend to be capable, self-aware, and tired of carrying what the past keeps handing them. They don't need a cheerleader — they need a skilled, honest partner in the work of healing. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating complex life transitions, recovery, and deep wounds, especially those rooted in emotional, physical, sexual, or spiritual abuse.

The work itself is trauma-informed at its foundation: I hold an EMDRIA certificate in EMDR, training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and an endorsement in Motivational Interviewing, and I draw on CBT, ACT, and family-systems approaches as each client's goals require — all shaped by eight years in community mental health before private practice. Sessions are structured yet flexible, centered on your goals, paced at your comfort level, and always grounded in compassion.

I see adults (18+) of every age across Indiana by secure video, including veterans — a community to which I belong — and those in recovery. For clients who want it, faith can be part of the work: Christian counseling is available here, never assumed.

How I run the practice

Honesty over comfort

You're not paying me to agree with you. Warmth and directness are not opposites — good therapy needs both.

Depth with structure

We go deep, but never aimlessly. Every phase of the work ties back to the goals we set together.

A small caseload, on purpose

I limit the number of clients I see so I can bring full presence and preparation to each one.

Therapy should end

The goal is not to keep you in therapy — it's to make therapy unnecessary. We review progress openly and often.

If that resonates, book a free consultation— the fastest way to know if we're a fit is a conversation.
